Referrals and Current Fees

June provides both fee paying and "free" funded  counselling services, as outlined below.  Please advise June before your session about the type of counselling you wish to organise, as this will determine your fee.

FEE PAYING PSYCHOLOGY SERVICES FOR CLIENTS:

These fees apply to all clients, except those who are referred under the "free" funded services detailed in the section at the bottom of this page.   There is no GST charged on psychological counselling services.

Individual counselling appointments (55 minutes):

            Initial session:  $275

            Further sessions:  $240

NOTE:  The current recommended fee for Psychological counselling is $300 per session for individuals.

Couple/Family face-to-face appointments (maximum of three people):

Initial session:    $400 - 90 minute session    or  $340 - 60 minute session (depends on appointment availability

          Further sessions:  $275  - 55 minute session

NOTE:  Couple and family sessions cannot be done via telehealth.

REBATES - Medicare claims - If your GP provides a referral letter and mental health plan (eligibility criteria apply), you are initially entitled to 6 sessions where a receipt for Medicare claiming is provided. This is not free counselling or bulk billing, but an entitlement to claim a Medicare rebate ($92.90 as at 1/7/2023). This Medicare rebate amount will increase once you reach your individual/family Extended Medicare Safety Net (EMSN) threshold of $2249.80 (General) – where you will then receive back 80% of the out-of-pocket expense for your ongoing sessions with June.  There will usually be a gap payment.  After payment to June by bank transfer on the date of your appointment, you will be provided with a receipt for claiming purposes.   After 6 sessions, your Dr may complete a second referral and plan, allowing you to claim 4 more session rebates (sessions 6-10).

NOTE - referrals from GP's must be signed, dated and clearly indicate the type of referral (ie. New Plan, Plan Review) and the number of sessions being approved.  This is a Medicare requirement and without the correct information, Medicare may reject your claim.  It is the responsibility of your GP to give you correctly completed documents.  A Medicare receipt for claiming purposes cannot be provided if the referral is incomplete.

Currently there are 3 different referral plans that are eligible to receive a Medicare rebate under the Australian Government’s Better Access initiative.

  1. Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) - see FAQ for more information.

  2. Chronic Disease Management (CDM) Plan   - see FAQ for more information.

  3. Eating Disorder Treatment Plan (EDP) - N/A as June does not specialise in Eating DIsorders.

REBATES - Health Fund claims -  You can attend psychological counselling without a doctor's referral and use your health fund for claiming.    If your plan covers Psychological services, you can request that June provide a receipt for Health Fund claiming (after payment).  â€‹

Unfortunately, it is not possible for you to use your private health insurance ancillary cover to pay the gap between the Medicare rebate and the charge for psychological services.   You will need to decide whether you will use Medicare or private health insurance ancillary cover to claim your rebate.  June will provide either a receipt for claiming from Medicare or a Health Fund, not both.

CANCELLATION POLICY -  To achieve your therapy goals, it is important that you attend all booked appointments.

A minimum of 48 hours notice (from your appointment time/date) is required to reschedule or cancel a session without incurring any fees. This policy is in place to allow me time to offer the appointment to another client on my waitlist. However, if you do need to change your appointment, please note the following cancellation policy.

  • Cancelling with 24-48 hours notice:    50% of your fee is chargeable.

  • Cancelling with less than 24 hours notice:  The full fee is due (100%)

  • Non-attendance:   If you do not turn up for your session, the full fee must be paid regardless of the reason.

If you cancel with sufficient notice and the appointment can be rebooked, this cancellation fee will be waived and I will let you know (so the more notice the better).

Non attendance / No show -  If you do not turn up for your session, the full fee must be paid regardless of the reason, as I will be prepared and waiting for you, and will not have had the opportunity to offer the appointment to another client.   The non attendance cancellation fee must be paid before further appointments can be booked.

Unpaid/late session fees  - all fees are due on the date of each appointment by bank transfer.  If follow-up is required, a $10 late payment administration fee will be added to the amount due.  Unfortunately, counselling will not continue if a session fee is unpaid.

NOTE -  When providing services under the Medicare Benefits Scheme, a Medicare rebate can only be claimed for services provided directly to the client and therefore cannot be used to cover a cancellation or a non-attendance fee.

FUNDED "FREE" SERVICES FOR CLIENTS:

The following arrangements are funded by an insurer or ACCESS+.  There are no client fees payable.

ACCESS+ -  a special referral for free counselling funding from the Government for ADULTS  (www.pccs.org.au/access-plus/).    This funding is primarily for people who have difficulty accessing appropriate mental health support due to financial or other circumstances.   If you are eligible, your GP will give you details about how to organise the funding through ACCESS+.   June is a provider for Access+.

Access+ covers the Local Government Areas (LGAs) of:  Hornsby, Ryde, Ku-ring-gai, Hunters Hill, Lane Cove, Willoughby, Mosman, North Sydney and the Northern Beaches.

  • People from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds

CTP Insurance or WorkCover -   If you are attending under these arrangements, June will need details of your approved Insurance Claim number, Insurer contact name and email.   Written approval from the Insurer must be received by June before your first session.   You do not pay for approved sessions under an insurance claim.

NON-COUNSELLING SERVICES

All report writing and other non-counselling services are chargeable and subject to GST.  Information on the fee will be advised if such services are requested and June feels it is appropriate to agree to the request.  This includes university and HSC Special provisions reports, NDIS reports, Insurer reports and any school liaison.

June does not write reports for legal cases under any circumstances.  June has no training, interest or expertise in legal issues.
